Man Talks About Rescuing Woman, Dog In Lake Superior

A woman and her dog were rescued from the frigid waters of Lake Superior Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities responded to the incident just before 3 p.m. near Sky Harbor Airport on Park Point.

The Duluth Fire Department says the woman was walking her dog when the pup fell off of a ledge of ice and into Lake Superior.

The woman went in to rescue the dog and got stuck herself, in about four feet of water.

Firefighters were able to walk out about 25 yards on the ice and pull the woman and dog to safety.

The victim and dog warmed up in a firetruck until an ambulance arrived to check the woman out. She was treated and released on scene.

No one was injured in the incident.
