GRADUAL COOLING & SOME SHOWERS AS A CLIPPER MOVES THROUGH IN TIME FOR HALLOWEEN

Happy Thursday, Northland! The mild conditions persisted for many yesterday, with highs getting into the 50s for most in northwest Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula. This was also accompanied by sunshine which overall made it feel quite pleasant out. However, for northern Minnesota, cloud cover persisted through much of the day. This kept areas on the Minnesota side in the 40s for many with some spots staying in the low 40s.

Like yesterday morning, we are seeing some dense fog for parts of the Northland this morning, but it is a bit more widespread. Some areas seeing fog will also have to keep an eye on the surface conditions, as freezing fog is a potential which will cause icing this morning. Dense Fog Advisories  will run until 11 am today. Once the fog moves out, we will be left with cloudy skies and even some isolated showers today as a clipper system moves in. This will all keep today a bit cooler but still erring on the mild side as highs stay mainly in the 40s with some low 50s possible.

This clipper won't bring much wind with it but will continue to bring shower action into our Halloween and into Saturday morning. Friday will see the greatest coverage of showers, with scattered light showers possible as we get going into the day. Some showers in the overnight hours can even bring in a few snowflakes as well. Those along the South Shore will see the most when it comes to these showers, with lake enhancement allowing for more consistent shower action and some accumulations of a few tenths of an inch. Overall, the showers will be minimal when it comes to rainfall totals so even though it is something to be ready for, it shouldn't put a big hamper on any Halloween activities planned.

Saturday will be dry and cool, with highs in the mid to lower 40s for many and the sun likely to come out to a degree in the afternoon. The dry conditions won't last long as a system in Canada will bring in a cold front that will allow for more showers to move in starting Sunday. Confidence still isn't high but is suspect rain will still be a good possibility, especially for those farther east in the Arrowhead and especially towards the Upper Peninsula. What this system will bring is blustery winds out of the southwest and west Sunday through Monday, which can cause some rough conditions over Lake Superior. Despite the cold front, it won't be enough to stop warmer air moving in as we will see a return to seasonally mild temperatures Sunday through the mid-week. With that, I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday!
