Speaks to At-Risk Youth About the Fashion Industry

A Fashion Designer spoke to at risk Youth to give them a glimmer of hope.

Martin Gomez, The vice president of Product Development and sourcing at Maurices, talked to Youth at Woodland Hills about his experience designing clothes for celebrities and major businesses.

Gomez was raised in a poverty stricken area, and says that he himself had been in situations like some that the students may have experienced.

“It’s not about being the best basketball player, the best football player. I made it through education… and I have to tell you when I was young, education wasn’t even an option,” said Gomez.

Gomez has traveled abroad to countries like China, India, and Korea throughout his career in the fashion industry.
