Fire Destroys Greenwood Township Home

A fire destroyed a home in Greenwood Township Wednesday night. 

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home in the 7400 block of Velkommen Beach Road around 10:45 p.m. 

When authorities arrived, the home and attached garage were engulfed in flames. 

An adult male and a dog were inside the home when the fire broke out, but escaped unharmed. 

Police say it appears the fire may have started in the garage from a cigarette, however, the cause remains under investigation. 

The house has been deemed a total loss.
