New Outdoor Venue May Come to Grand Rapids
Venue Would Host Concerts and Other Events Along City's Riverfront
GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. – City officials are looking at building a new outdoor venue along the Mississippi riverfront. The new venue would offer theatre performances, concerts, boat shows, and much more.
When the venue feasibility study ends in May, more details will be known. Right now, two potential locations next to the river are being considered.
“The town was built on the river. We have a lot of history with the river, and it would just be a wonderful way for the community, for the state to interact with the river,” says Amy Dettmer, the city staff liaison on the Arts and Culture Commission.
For anyone who wants to learn more, a community input meeting about the project is being held on April 4th from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Grand Rapids Area Library.
