Duluth Salvation Army Still in Need for Donations for Food Share Fundraiser
DULUTH, Minn. —
The Salvation Army is nearing the end of a month-long food drive, and they still need help from those willing to give.
The Duluth Salvation Army serves more than 3,500 people through food donations and cash donations just to put meals on the table for hungry people in the region.
Their cash goal is $5000, and the area Salvation Army is still nearly a thousand dollars shy of that goal.
Staff and volunteers regularly stock the shelves with fresh and non-perishable food items, but they also say cash can go a long way.
“We can stretch that dollar further with cash donations or check donations, because we can go out and buy better quality and quantity and get the best deals,” said Major Bill Cox.
Cox did say that can and boxed non-perishable food items are still okay, and that he knows that people like to give actual items so they know exactly what they’re giving.
“It’s a win-win either way, but we can actually do more with cash and check donations,” he explains.
Donations can be brought to the Duluth Salvation Army building 215 S 27th Ave. West in Duluth.
You can donate by phone by calling 218-722-7934, or you can go to their website and click on “Ways to Give.”
