Four Rescued from Man-lift at Superior’s General Mills Elevator
Four people were rescued after being trapped in an exterior man-lift at Superior’s General Mills Elevator on Friday.
The Superior Fire Department responded to the incident just before 3 on Friday afternoon.
When crews arrived, they found the man-lift stuck approximately 90 feet above ground.
The lift was out of reach for the fire department’s aerial ladder, so firefighters reached the workers from a platform 20 feet above the lift.
Crews lowered a ladder to the top of the lift and workers made their way out through a trap door on top. The workers were able to use an interior staircase to get down to the ground.
Fire crews battled -20 to -25 windchills during the three hour rescue operation. No one was injured.
