High School Students Show Off Their Math Skills at Math Meet

Around 200 Students Compete at the Annual Event

SUPERIOR, Wis.- Around 200 high school students from area schools competed in the 43rd annual High School Math Meet held at UWS.

Nearly 15 schools from across the region signed student teams up for the event. Students solved problems using calculus, trigonometry, statistics, and algebra. The event helps build interest in Math, and sharpen the students’ skills.

“You can’t survive now-a-days without knowing a little bit of mathematics. Just working with a computer and interacting with it, you have to know some basic skills,” said Jonathan Totushek, an Assistant Professor at UWS.

The event also helps promote the university, and gives high school students a small look into college life.
