Nathan Schroeder Takes The Beargrease Win

Nathan Schroeder collected his 4th Beargrease title early Wednesday morning. The father of three and Northland native was welcomed by a large audience of on-lookers at the finish line.

Schroeder is well known to fans of the legendary Northshore race — and mushing in general.

“It’s something I looked forward to as a kid,” Schroeder said.

He says he embraced his love of mushing at the age of 12 years old.

This race is a practice for the “big meet” in Alaska — The Iditarod Dog Sled Race.

Schroeder arrived at the finish line in Duluth earlier than projected.

“We broke 110 miles of trail.” Schroeder said.

Schroeder couldn’t be more proud about his performance, and he says he’s grateful for the support from his sponsors.

Crowds Wednesday morning were abundant with cheers and applause as Schroeder rolled in.
