2 Formally Charged in Duluth Apartment Drug Bust

DULUTH, Minn. – The Duluth Police Department reports that on Monday, May 8, the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 100 block of North 30th Avenue West.

The search warrant was a result of an investigation into the suspected sale of heroin at the address.

Investigators recovered around 14.4 grams of heroin, 1.4 grams of methamphetamine, drug packaging, scale, and paraphernalia, as well as $835 U.S. currency. The apartment appeared to be a

“flop house” where several drug users were staying to purchase and use, according to the Duluth PD.

Those arrested included a 20-year-old Tyjuan Jacob Hill of Chicago for probable cause charges of 1st Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance, Obstructing the Legal Process, and Giving a False Name to Police; and 32-year-old Rachel Marie Annette Fenzel of Duluth for Disorderly House. Both individuals are currently being held at the St. Louis County jail pending charges.

Also arrested was a 31-year-old male and an 18-year-old female with outstanding arrest warrants. A 22-year-old female attempted to jump out the window during the search. She ended up injuring herself and was treated at a local hospital and charges for her are pending.

On Wednesday, May 10, the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office formally charged Hill with 1st Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance and Fenzel with Disorderly House. Hill’s bail was set at $100,000. Fenzel was released on her own recognizance, but placed on hold for probation.
