Belly Dancers Shake Their Hips for a Good Cause
They Danced to Raise Money to Fight Domestic Violence
DULUTH, Minn.- The Shimmy mob celebrated world belly dance day through dancing for a good cause for the second year in a row.
The Shimmy Mob made appearances in Leif Erickson park, the lake walk, and Bent Paddle’s Festiversary to shake those hips and raise funds for Safe Haven and Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse.
“We have women from two harbors, we have women from Minneapolis, and from Duluth and we’ve been practicing for a few months and we put on this choreography and they put it on all over the world and they raise money for local domestic shelters,” said Sarah Garramone the leader of the Shimmy Mob.
World Belly Dance Day is internationally recognized in the Belly Dance community, and events like free dance classes were held across the globe.
