Youth Helped Transform the Lake Superior Zoo for a Day
The Day Included Activities for Families of All Ages
DULUTH, Minn.- 9th grade students from the Northland Foundation’s Kids Plus Youth Leadership Academy helped transform the lake Superior Zoo.
The group, called “Lions Tigers and Leaders, oh my!” helped build a nature play space in the zoo, and put on fun activities like face painting and games. The goal of the Northland foundation’s kid’s plus youth leadership program is to help young people develop skills to serve their community.
“I think in the long run, we’ll have these skills that we learned through this program to help communities in ways that are organized. Like if we see a problem or a thing that needs to be added in the community we can add it now, because we have the skills,” said Sophie Williams, a member of the Northland Foundation’s Kid’s Plus Youth Leadership Academy.
The day also included fun for teenagers and adults with a special Snapchat filter and Facebook live.
