3 Injured as Train Hits Pickup

Truck Did Not Stop at Railroad Crossing

BASSETT TWP., Minn. – Three Iron Range teenagers were injured when their pickup truck was hit by a train.

The crash happened around 4 this afternoon on Sikbo Rd. in Bassett Township, Southeast of Hoyt Lakes.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriffs’ Office, the pickup tried to beat the train through a crossing.

The teens were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s office. One has reportedly been released from the hospital, as of Monday.

St. Louis County Sheriffs are investigating.
