Duluth Teen Awarded Citizen Award

The Teen Helped Save Her Elderly Neighbor

DULUTH,Minn.- A Duluth teenager received a special Citizen Award for helping save her neighbor.

Ruth Kristensen was visiting with her Elderly neighbor, when she noticed something seemed wrong with her neighbor. After realizing her neighbor may need medical attention, Kristensen called 911, and stayed with her while the neighbor received the help she needed. Monday, Kristensen was awarded the Citizen Life Saver Award for acting selflessly and swiftly, at a ceremony at the Duluth Fire Hall.

“I try to look out for my neighbors, I know most of them pretty well, I check up on them, and we try to do special things for them like caroling and May Day gifts and stuff so, I always try to make sure they are doing alright, because I love them, said Kristensen.

Kristensen says her neighbor is doing a lot better and they still spend time together.
