Ice Rescue Crews Suit Up In Ashland

Officials say gear is a huge component to effective ice rescues, and it helps keep the body from going into shock so they can save a victim’s life.

“The guys must have gotten a little cold out there because they just jumped in the water. It’s actually warmer in the water than it is standing on the ice.” Captain Scott Thimm said.

The Ashland fire, ice and rescue team wears bright yellow rescue uniforms for thermal protection.

Authorities say the busy season for rescues will be coming up as we transition from winter into spring.
