Finland Man Pleads Guilty to Felony Murder

GRAND MARAIS, Minn. – A Finland, Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to Felony Murder in the shooting of a Bloomington man in December 2015.

Sixty-two-year-old, Kirk Lee Bigby, pleaded guilty to the murder of 35-year-old Marcus Roberts Bigby.

Sentencing guidelines, as authorized by the Minnesota legislature, has set the presumptive sentence for Felony Murder, for a defendant who has no criminal history, to a range of 128-180 months in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Bigby has been in the custody of the Cook County Sheriff, but held for the most part at the Lake County Jail. After sentencing, he will be transferred into the custody of the Department of Corrections and likely be detained at one of the State-run prisons for the remainder of his sentence.
