Duluth Bed and Breakfast Ranks Number One in Nation

A.G. Thomson House Receives Huge Recognition

A B&B in Duluth has received a huge honor by one of the world’s top travel websites.

The A.G. Thomson house was chosen as the country’s number one bed and breakfast by the website Trip Advisor.

The house was built in the early 1900’s, and features seven private rooms, all with their own unique decorations.

“Casual comfort is what we’re trying to accomplish here – a place that we’ve created where people want to put their feet up and read a book in our living room,” explains Tim Allen, who co-owns the house with his wife Angie. “A lot of inns are really formal, and that was never our dream. We just wanted a place where people think it’s their house.”

The Allens say they didn’t get the news until they were home from a conference, and they found out through email.

“We just kind of stared at each other for ten minutes going ‘How did that even happen?’ But we’re happy to get it,” Tim said. “They don’t reveal why they chose us – I guess that’s a trade secret. We’re very happy that they did, but it’s kind of overwhelming.”

The A.G. Thomson House received a similar national honor from Trip Advisor back in 2012.

This year, they were chosen as the number eight best in the whole world.
