Car Crashes into Townhome Causing Gas Leak in Hermantown
HERMANTOWN, Minn. – Just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Hermantown Police and Hermantown Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a report of a gas leak in the Deer Field Townhome complex.
Officers arrived and discovered an SUV struck a parked vehicle and then drove into a townhome. The SUV broke a gas line to the townhome causing a leak and evacuation of area homes.
Crews from the gas company worked to turn off the leak, which took longer than expected as the SUV sat atop the shutoff.
The driver of the SUV, a 43-year-old female, was arrested for a DUI.
No injuries were reported.
