Grandma’s Marathon and Toyota Kick Off Shoe Drive

Funds Will Benefit the Young Athletes Foundation

DULUTH, Minn.- Grandma’s Marathon and Toyota are working together to fill up a Toyota Tundra truck with old sneakers.

The organizations are partnering with Sneakers4Funds for a shoe drive.  They’re asking people to bring their gently used or new sneakers to one of their drop off locations. Once enough shoes are collected, Sneakers4Funds will donate money to benefit the Young Athletes Foundation, a program that helps kids stay active and healthy. The donated sneakers will go to benefit people in developing nations.

“A lot of times runners go through 2, 3, 4 pairs of shoes while they’re training for a marathon, and this is just a way to put those shoes to good use,” said Kate Kucinski, the PR Director for Grandma’s Marathon.

The drop off locations are Iron Trail Toyota in Virginia, Kolar Toyota in Duluth, Kari Toyota in Superior, and Ashland Toyota in Ashland. The goal of the drive is to raise 2,600 pairs of shoes.
