Sands Soldiers On Despite Setback
Boxer Had Another Title Fight in Europe Fall Through
DULUTH, Minn. – You may have heard, ‘The Haitian Temptation’ Al Sands had another fight in Europe fall through.
Last week Sands’ representatives at Sunshines Promotions announced Sands wouldn’t be going to Moscow, Russia to face Ruslan Fayfer for the IBF International and WBA Asia Cruiserweight titles.
Despite another setback, Sands is staying focused.
“I always make it a point to lead by example, keep a steady solid foundation of fitness for any fight that might present itself,” said Sands. “We stay about three weeks to a month from being fight ready.”
Meanwhile, Sands and his coach Mike McKean recently joined forces with Aaron Resberg’s Twin Ports Boxing in an effort to reach more kids.
That means the Haitian Temptation Amateur program can use the equipment there, but most importantly, the ring, something they lacked in their old home.
“It’s very important to have a ring because you feel the ropes, feel the canvas,” said McKean. “It’s more efficient to be in a ring.”
