Arson Suspected in Lester Park Playground Fire

DULUTH, Minn.-Part of the Lester Park Elementary playground was burned yesterday and the fire department believes it’s arson.

Firefighters responded at about 8 p.m. to put out the blaze.

In 2011, a fire also destroyed much of the playground’s jungle gym which cost $141,000.

Authorities have identified a juvenile who admitted to setting a fire to the equipment. The individual was identified through tips from the Arson Top Line, The tipster is now eligible for a reward from the Minnesota chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators.
