Rare Military Artwork Stops At Depot

A rare Minnesota Coast Guard painting is on display at the Depot through Sunday.

It’s one of five oil paintings focused on preserving the history of our veterans and armed forces.
The artist, Charles Kapsner, said the masterpiece was no quick project.

“It took about a year to paint this piece. But there’s about six months of study ahead of time. And everyone up here is actually somebody who came to my studio and modeled,” Kapsner said.

All five paintings representing the five branches of service will be permanently displayed at the Minnesota State Veterans’ Cemetery near Little Falls, Minnesota.
