More Remains Found at Highway 23 Construction Site

DULUTH, Minn.-State officials from the transportation department have notified the Fond du Lac Band that more human remains have been found at the Highway 23 construction site in the Fond du Lac neighborhood in West Duluth.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation stopped working on the site as soon as tribal members notified them of the burial site last week.

MnDOT has hired an archaeology firm to do further analysis at the site.

Fond du Lac will also have security at the site to make sure nothing else is disturbed.
