High School Students Take On Survivor Camp At LSC

DULUTH, Minn. – Summer camp is on right now at Lake Superior College.  It’s all about helping young people become wilderness survivors.

Area high school students are learning how to build shelter out of a tarp, put up a six-person tent and even start a fire out in the woods.

“None of them have their phones out here. And they are all enjoying each other, interacting and learning about teamwork and it’s great,” said Jodi Tervo-Roberts, a teacher at Lake Superior College.

Tervo-Roberts says it’s all about building confidence in young people to be leaders in their communities.
