Bovey Mine To Close Monday; 160 Miners Affected

The people of Bovey are feeling a real economic sting as the financial woes of the Iron Range hit the small town. Magnetation Plant 2 is set to close down operation January 18.

Former Miner Dick Foss said, “Jobs are needed. The whole Range is hurting right now.”

Magnetation LLC lay-offs are projected to affect over 160 workers.

Bovey is a town that is known for the  famous Prayer Of Grace photo.  Taking a stroll down Main Street, you won’t need a lens to see prayers are dire in this town.

Bovey Mayor Michael Bibich said,” It’s happened for the last fifty years, but we are still surviving and I think we will still go strong.”
