Two New Exhibitions to Open at Duluth Art Institute

DULUTH, Minn. – This week two new exhibitions are opening at the Duluth Art Institute.

The first is a solo exhibit by Jonathan Thunder.

“Peripheral Vignettes” features all new paintings and will be accompanied by a color catalog, an animation screening, and an artist talk and book signing.

The second, “Play,” showcases the work of three artists, Robert Dewitt Adams, Elizabeth LaPensee, and Christoper Selleck, who all explore games, gaming and game mechanics in their work; and artist Robb Quisling has been commissioned to create a game of croquet in the corridor space.

Both exhibitions share a reception Thursday, June 29 from 5 – 7 p.m., and jazz guitar by Briand Morrison will be included.

Later this summer, the Plein Air Duluth: Paint Du Nord will be back in Duluth.

The festival runs July 9 – 14, with the works on display at Blacklist Artisan Ales July 15 – August 27.
