New Duluth Company Helps Tame Frizzy Beards
There's a Beard Care Product Company in Duluth
DULUTH, Minn.- It all started as a conversation inside of Living Art Tattoo studio in Duluth, when tattoo artist Josh Kirkpatrick was giving Scott Rabold a tattoo.
“He was having trouble finding a decent beard care product, one that he liked the smell of, one that worked in his beard,” explained Kirkpatrick.
So Kirkpatrick offered Rabold a little bit of his home-made balm to care for tattoos and suggested Rabold use it in his beard. And that was the beginning of the Duluth Beard Company, a locally owned business specializing in products for facial hair.
“Handmade, all natural products. We don’t use any petroleum or any sulfates,” said Rabold.
The products are made right in Kirkpatrick’s kitchen, and can be purchased online or at Living Art Studio.
With beards being as popular as they are in Duluth, there was a demand for beard care products.
“Back maybe 10 or 15 years ago there wasn’t anything in the way of dedicated men’s beard care product at all that I could find up here, which is really weird because there’s a lot of guys with beards in Duluth, but that’s starting to change and these guys are really helping out quite a bit with that,” said Ezra Bennett, who has a big beard.
And now Kirkpatrick and Rabold are happy to help bearded Northlanders control and condition their bushy beards, goatees and muttonchops with balms and oils mixed right in Duluth.
“We’re just trying to make a local product that works and is natural and handmade,” said Rabold.
