GND and Stowe Elementary put on “I Love to Read” Event

DULUTH, Minn. – Students at Stowe Elementary School in Duluth received a special gift of reading Monday.

The school hosted its 7th annual ‘I Love to Read’ event along with the help of the Gary New Duluth Development Alliance to provide free books to students.

Each class was given 45 minutes to look through the selection of books letting students take home two new and two used books.

“There’s kids possibly that don’t have the opportunity to go to a store and pick out two brand new books. This way we’ve got it set up as best as we can to kind of mimic a bookstore and they can take whatever they want,” GND Development Alliance Board Member, Fran Morris says.

Students also got a chance to chat with a Duluth police officer and check out a squad car. And by the way, Gary New Duluth Development Alliance is always accepting gently used books to continue to support the ‘I Love to Read’ program.
