CherryRoad Media Launches ‘Lake County Press’
LAKE COUNTY, Minn. – Lake County has gotten its journalism voice back with a new weekly paper distributed on Saturdays. This comes after the Lake County News Chronicle shut down in the spring of 2020.
CherryRoad Media is behind what’s now called ‘Lake County Press.’ They say they launched the new media outlet after members of the community approached the company about the idea. The paper will also be distributed online.
The first four editions are free to residents in Two Harbors, Silver Bay, Finland, and Knife River.
“I think it gives the county more options, more news availability to news and information. Community events, sports, churches, school stuff. So, I’m really hopeful that we can help communicate and help people talking to each other civilly,” Lake County Press Editor, Forrest Johnson says.
Starting in March, the paper will transition to a subscriber base. CherryRoad Media says it’s confident residents will find the news coverage valuable enough to join.
