AAA: 100 Million Drivers Traveling At Least 50 Miles This Holiday

The day before Christmas Eve is the busiest travel day of the year.

According to AAA, more than 100 million drivers will travel at least 50 miles from home for the holiday season.

That’s a 1.4 percent increase from last year.

Some traveler’s will hit the skies but the majority were expected to drive over the holidays, especially since gas prices are so low.

“Christmas Day I’m making the trek to Bemidji, heading up to visit with the girlfriend’ family for the weekend and spending Christmas there, enjoying a little prime rib, so should be nice,” said Hermantown native Michael Stoke.

“With people moving other places, we just do the best we can to get everybody to see each other over the holidays,” said Kyle Johannessen from Duluth.

According to AAA, 2015 is the 7th straight year that holiday travel has grown.
