New Boss For St. Louis River Alliance
Kris Eilers Named Executive Director
The St. Louis Rive Alliance officially named a new executive director, Tuesday.
Kris Eilers is formally taking over the reigns of the SLRA as they work to have the St. Louis River delisted as an area of concern for the Environmental Protection Agency.
To reach that goal the SLRA needs to clean up 10 areas of contaminated sediment along between Duluth and the Thomson Reservoir.
Eilers’ first big hurdle will be securing around $25 million in State Funding from Minnesota.
Once that amount is attained the SLRA should receive an additional $46 million in Federal Funds.
The SLRA has hired a government relations consultant to help them obtain the funding, they say will not only pay dividends on the river, but inject a large economic boost in the economy of The Twin Ports.
