Wichita Newspaper: Ramsay Offered Police Chief Job

Duluth Police Chief Gordon Ramsay has been offered the job as Chief of Police in Wichita, Kansas, according to The Wichita Eagle.

The newspaper’s headline reads: ‘Sources: Layton offering Wichita police chief job to Duluth’s Gordon Ramsay.’

FOX 21’s Dan Hanger reached out to Ramsay Wednesday afternoon who said he had no comment.

Wichita city spokesperson Ken Evans told FOX 21 he is not “confirming or denying” that Ramsay has been offered a contract.

Evans says an official announcement won’t be made until a background check is done and a contract is signed, which will happen before the end of December.

Ramsay and Jeff Spivey are both “strong candidates” for the job and are still both up for the job, according to Evans.

Ramsay has been the Duluth Police Chief since 2006.

Spivey has been Assistant Chief in Irving, Texas since 2011.
