Proctor Girls Basketball Set to Battle Top Seed Pequot Lakes in Section Semi-Finals

Tip-off between the Rails and the Patriots is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday night at Hermantown High School.

PROCTOR, Minn. – This past weekend, the Proctor girls basketball team picked up a big win over Duluth Marshall in the Section 7AA quarterfinals.

Now the Rails move one game away from the title game, and standing in their way is top seed Pequot Lakes, who beat Proctor in the regular season just one month ago.

“They’re really good at executing almost everything. I mean, every play, just watching they execute their offense, nearly perfectly every time. And they outrun a lot of teams that we see in our section and our conference,” said senior forward Sydnee Yost.

“We know we’ll play defense. It’s limiting their opportunities and how many times they get to shoot the ball every time down the floor. All the pressure’s on them. So as the one seed and us coming in as the four, they have the pressure. Obviously, they’re the number one for a reason and we have to take care of business on Wednesday,” head coach Matt Solberg said.

Tip-off between the Rails and the Patriots is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday night at Hermantown High School.
