Duluth Salvation Army Needs Bell-Ringers

Many Bell-Ringing Shifts Still Available

‘Tis the season for giving – and the Salvation Army is hoping for a community of givers and volunteers.

The Red Kettle Campaign kicked off a few weeks ago, and the Duluth Salvation Army is still in need of volunteers.

Bell-ringing shifts are only two hours, and Duluth has more than 860 shifts available in its eighteen collection locations.

The Duluth Salvation Army is hoping to raise $275,000 this year.

“If you have a heart for the under-served or people who are going through a tough time right now, one way you can directly help people and families in that situation with the very basics,” said Director of Development Gordon Mesedahl.

Mesedahl says the Red Kettle Campaign accounts for up to 10% of the Salvation Army’s yearly budget.

Each bell-ringing shift is two hours, and they have incentives for people to volunteer.

The group or business that volunteers the most will win a trophy and box seats to a UMD hockey game.
