CHUM to Give Away Three-Hundred Easter Hams

CHUM gave away all of today's inventory, minutes after opening.

DULUTH, Minn.– A juicy ham is typically a staple in the dinner table during Easter Sunday, and this week, the CHUM food shelf is handing them out to anyone who wants to take one home for the upcoming holiday.

The non-profit handed out 48 hams this morning at its West Duluth location.

According to CHUM’s distributive services director, Scott Van Daele the inventory was cleared out in just minutes.

“To see the amount of people and the turnout today for a free ham was insane, and it just sort of like you said, rights the wrong, you see it and you’re sort of like ‘oh there really is that big of a need,'” said Van Daele, “So, it’s an amazing opportunity to be able to get 300 hams and give them away free of charge to anybody that needs one.”

The hams were donated through partnerships with SuperOne and other sponsors. CHUM hopes to hand out 300 hams by April 15, They will be on first come first serve basis, with limited supply daily.
