Revised Plan Approved For Morgan Park Housing Development

The Duluth City Council approved new zoning plans Monday night to allow the development of the old Morgan Park Middle School property.

Developer Aaron Schweiger says the new design is described as 119 townhome-style apartments, which will include private entries, heated parking and a cost of roughly $1,250 for a two-bedroom unit.

Schweiger says the new design plans were created after hearing feedback from the city and residents.

Construct is expected in the spring of 2016.

The middle school building will be torn down, with some of the bricks from the structure set to be used in the development’s welcome sign.

The vote to move forward was 8-1 with councilor Jay Fosle as the no-vote.
