Twin Ports Honor MLK

A mayoral reception in Duluth remembers Martin Luther King Jr's message.

DULUTH, Minn.-Thursday night the Twin Ports remember Martin Luther King Junior during a mayoral reception.

This year’s moto is “The Birth of a New Nation” which came from a speech MLK gave in 1957.

“He has the spirit of nonviolence and just excepting everybody for their own beliefs and we’re coming together as a community,” co chair MLK planning committee Salaam Witherspoon said. “Giving people an opportunity to be themselves, keeping true to their own values.”

Thursday night the MLK planning committee kicks off a week long tribute to the civil rights movement leader.
