Foster Parents Wanted in St. Louis County

Main Goal is to Provide More Stable Environment for Children

DULUTH, Minn.-St. Louis County is in need of foster parents.

Today a workshop at the Government Services Center was held where Northlander’s could learn all about the process.

The main goal is to keep kids in the area close to their friends and family, while providing a stable environment for them.

“It’s a huge importance for keeping kids in our community,” said James Ellingson, a social worker for St. Louis County. “The more foster homes we have, the more times kids don’t have to be shipped to other places. Keeping kids in their own school district, their own neighborhoods, it’s very altruistic the kids can stay.”

To find out how you can be a foster parent, visit stlouiscountymn.gov/childfostercare or call (218) 726-2168 in the Duluth area or (218) 404-5330 for north St. Louis County (north of Cotton).
