The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra Bridge Sessions are taking place this weekend.
It’s a competition collaborating alternative bands with the DSSO.
It started with 20 bands and has now been narrowed down to four.
Those four bands, Mary Bue & the Holy Bones, Ryan Van Slooten, Space Carpet, and Big Wave Dave and The Ripples, were selected and have been working with a member of the orchestra.
There are two challenges taking place Friday.
They will be performing a classical piece in their style, as well as one of their own songs with a DSSO musician incorporated into it.
There will then be a vote and the winner will perform with the orchestra in February.
Music Director Dirk Meyer says they felt it was important to combine the orchestra with the rich music scene in Duluth.
The Bridge Sessions are happening at Clyde Iron Works on Friday, November 6 at 7 p.m.
Tickets will cost $10 and can be purchased at the door.
