You can help in the fight against cancer this weekend.
The first-ever Cancer: Go Fly a Kite event is kicking off Saturday at Endion Station near the Lakewalk.
The University of Minnesota-Duluth Colleges Against Cancer and Rotaract Organizations are hosting the fundraiser with all proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society Relay for Life at UMD in 2016.
The event involves flying kites in honor of someone who has won or lost their battle with cancer.
“A couple months ago, I flew a kite and it was a wonderful experience and I thought, ‘Why don’t we do something like this together with the kids at UMD?’ And so it kind of came from that and here we are, and we just want people to come out and let their love soar for people who have battled cancer,” said Melissa Kadlec, with the American Cancer Society.
The event runs from 2-4 p.m.
