Missing Boater’s Body Located in Sturgeon Lake

STURGEON LAKE, Minn. – Authorities have located the body of a missing boater in Sturgeon Lake after three days of searching.

According the Pine County Sheriff’s Office, the man is John Fanning, 28, of Moose Lake.

His body was discovered around 4:40 p.m. Monday.

Fanning went missing around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7 after jumping off a boat.   Witnesses reported Fanning having trouble in the water before going under, according to the sheriff’s office.

“We wish to express our thanks to everyone as well as our condolences to John’s family,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release Monday evening.
