Help ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ This Weekend

Letter carriers in the Northland will be delivering more than mail this weekend.

When they stop by your door, they will also be picking up donations for area food banks.

It’s part of the fourth annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

It will be happening in Cloquet, Proctor, Hermantown, Superior, Duluth, Two Harbors and Silver Bay.

Letter carriers ask that you just leave your non-perishable, non-expired and unopened food out this Saturday, and they will pick it up and get it where it needs to go.

“This is my favorite day of the year, delivering mail is great. I love the job being outside…this is the one day we can not only deliver the mail, we can pick up food and make a difference in the community,” said Scott Dulas, with the Duluth Letter Carriers Post 114.

On Wednesday, they kicked of this year’s Stamp Out Hunger Drive at Super One in West Duluth.

To start things off, the store donated 11,000 pounds of food, and $8,000 to area food banks.

If you are unable to leave donations out for your mail carriers, you can also drop off at local Super One stores.
