4th Street Market Reopening Under New Ownership

Currently, the Duluth Central Hillside Neighborhood has no grocery stores nearby.

DULUTH, Minn.- Exciting news for residents in an area that some refer to as the food desert.

The 4th Street Market is under new ownership and will be serving the community once again. The 4th Street Market closed it’s doors last February but the American Indian Community Housing Organization now purchased the building. Currently, the Duluth Central Hillside Neighborhood has no grocery stores nearby. Some refer to it as a food desert but residents are looking forward to having a local store.

“Pretty exciting because it’s right down the street from where I live, there’s not a lot right here, and I like the food,” local resident David Johnson said.

AICHO will be raising money for one year to help restore the building. An opening date has not been announced.
