Superior Ice Sculpture Collapses
Sculpture Costs City $30,000
The ice sculpture grabbing attention on Barkers Island is Superior looked a bit different Tuesday.
Roger Hanson, “The Iceman,” tells FOX 21 the above average temperatures in December and January is the reason the sculpture is no longer standing.
The Iceman says he’s never had a failure this big and was completely shocked when the collapse happened.
“I had to take measures to circumvent the situation, but I really didn’t expect it to come down,” said Hanson. “Mother Nature has not been terribly cooperative with my endeavors. She has been, we’ve been in a knockout brawl ever since we’ve had this project running here.”
The ice project cost the city $30,000.
Superior city officials will be considering the next steps of the project over the next few days.
