When you think of education, many times art is ignored.

But Friday night, The Duluth Community celebrated visual literacy.

The 2nd annual “Art For Education’s Sake” went on at The Depot, where local students’ artwork was on display and up for grabs in a silent auction.

“There’s so much emphasis these days on testing, which is very important, but at the same time we’re working with the other part of the brain and that area needs a lot exercise and work as well,” said art teacher, Debra Hannu.

All proceeds will go to Duluth Public School art programs.
