In celebration of Autism Awareness Month, Z Puppets, a Minneapolis–based company is hosting a camp in Duluth to teach children with special needs fun ways to manage stress.
The kids will spend five days making puppets, writing songs, and doing yoga.
“We use the metaphor of pirates as an idea of the pirates that come into your mind and take calm away as the treasure,” explained Chris Griffith, Creative Director of Z Puppets. “What we’re doing is exploring that metaphor and what it is that keeps you from finding calm.”
Saturday the campers will perform their new puppetry skills in a show at The Sacred Heart Music Center at 11 a.m.
