Students from area high schools had numbers on the brain at a competition Wednesday morning at UW-Superior.
The “Math Meet” pits of students against one another with the mission to solve math problems in a small amount of time.
Students say most of the problems were word problems, and were a little harder than their normal math tests.
The group we talked to says their strategy was for each student to only work on two problems each.
“These all take a little more work and a little more thinking. Most of the problems we have on tests are really basic and just have regular numbers on them,” said Cory Yoder, a senior at Hayward High School in Wisconsin.
Yoder says he plans on becoming an engineer, so math is something he will need to be proficient at for years to come.
Some students did individual competitions as well.
The teams and individuals with the best scores were awarded trophies.
