As the school year draws to a close, Wednesday was a chance for school children to get outside and hit the track.

The Fit-n-Fun Run allows nearly 2,000 third, fourth and fifth graders from Duluth schools to run a quarter mile at the track at Denfeld High school.

The Fun Run is sponsored by Grandma’s Marathon, gearing up the young athletes for more runs in the future.

“This is kind of a reward for them – to get out, get away from school. [It’s] a year end run, a year end kind of a field trip for them,” explained Bob Gustafson, marketing director for Grandma’s Marathon.

From morning to lunch time, the public school’s stadium track hosted 66 races.
