Orange cones are filling Grand Avenue as a major project gets underway.
Improvements to the road will provide a better driving surface, boost drainage, provide a new entrance for the zoo and make the sidewalks wheelchair accessible.
Traffic will soon be limited to one lane and crews are warning drivers to be careful in the work zones.
“If you have an alternate route that would be good. Otherwise just watch out and drive slowly and watch out for the workers. There will be a lot of construction traffic,” said MnDOT’s Project Manager, Jim Sorenson.
Construction will wrap up in October.
