The first public meeting kicked off Wednesday for a major construction project in Duluth.

Community members along with business owners gathered at City Center West on Grand Avenue for the Hwy23/Grand Avenue rehabilitation update.

MnDOT leaders hosted the event.

They gave a presentation, answered questions and addressed concerns about the $16 million rehab project set to provide a smoother riding surface and improve drainage and safety.

“We’re gonna have a nice road when we’re done,” MnDOT project supervisor Jim Sorenson said. “Just be patient with us, we’re doing the best we can. We’re gonna try to accommodate people as best we can with little disruption.”

MnDOT will have public meetings every week as long as people are interested in coming.
